Getting ready for a new big day!

Just in case you are wondering...it is time for school on Monday :)

So this week I decided to face my fear of oil cloth and made the girls some pencil cases...

After few trial, I am now happy with the Easy speedy pencil case (I will show you what I found worked the best ...easy!)
and
I just learned that oil cloth was just fine...not sure what I was worried about??

The girls decided to perfect their baking skills with a "just by themselves" little cake while mum had her hands occupied...
Shame I could not have any, I just have caramel cravings now!!

Another project got done following the circle zip ear bud pouch tutorial from here.

Apart from completely forgetting to add the "tag thing"...it will be very handy for Miss E.

The book covering job got done too but...
I honestly do not do very well with anything too sticky!!:)
So I used some craft paper that I had and we decorated happily!

Over the weekend I also experimented with passion fruit and lime in my cooking.... mmmmm!

Tomorrow life goes back to lunch boxes, running against the clock
and
new activities (courtesy of mum's taxi)
We are all waiting to know the new class, new teacher, new friends...

My memories of school days are a little different than what the girls are living here
but I can always remember the excitement  of "la entrée"!

Wishing you a great back to school if you are like us tomorrow.

So many wonderful things! You have been so productive. My kids could do with one each of those little ipod pouches.
We have one more week of holidays down here and I don't want it to end! Is that strange coming from a mum?!

With all the preparations of back to school you still managed to take time to create such wonderful handmade pouches and other DIY projects. Wishing your girls a wonderful first day of school. And wishing you a wonderful day as well!

What beautiful pencil cases and books! I have been sewing with lots of laminated cotton and made some book covers and lunch boxes with it, I am surprised, because after sewing oilcloth, I learnt a few new things, like you can iron it and attach fusible webbing! I have been so so so busy it is crazy, I survived first day, so the rest of the week will be a breeze! X
