Inspire me Friday

Hello,

Hope you had a great Australia day yesterday if you are living in Australia.
Sadly here the weather has taken a little bit of the usual fun, as most events were cancelled due to bad weather.

Yes rain rain rain and more of it...
Anyway today I am looking at some opportunity to add some sunshine and a smile!

Every Friday, I receive the newsletter from the beautiful and inspiring Tangled yarn . (A gorgeous yarn boutique located in Newstead (Brisbane))
This ritual never miss to lift my spirit and always give me the hitch to grab my hooks and start a colourful new projects, Kelly always point us in the right direction via the Ravelry community...

Today I just added another project to my forever growing list, but I believe it is so so gorgeous I wanted to share :)

The pattern is originally from the talented Lucy from Attic 24 and wow oh wow, the choice of colours by Kelly is just "incroyable"!

The cushions were made from Cotton fleece available here, tempting I know :)

Easy, Speedy pencil case D.I.Y

Before I forget, I will show you the little details on how I made the super speedy and easy pencil case...The initial idea was that the girls would sew them, but "maman" was left with the job :)
Hopefully the pictures speak by themselves...

I Cut a 10 " by 8 " square, picked a zipper longer than 10 "(does not matter how much longer)
But you could just choose new dimensions and match your zip. Juts be aware of the length of the pens you want to put inside so it is not too small:)!

Sew on the larger side (10") (right side together) on side of the zipper with zipper foot.

Turn over and stitch on the right side to keep it in place.

bring your other zipper side over other side of fabric (right side)

pin if needed

sew again as close as you can to the zipper

Now open your zipper

Turn over the side you stitched and over stitch again

Now close zipper half way and stitch one side flat with zipper in centre

Go over the zipper carefully ( I go over back and forth manually) .Yes I broke a needle before going too fast!

Looks like that :)

Now on the other side fold the where the zipper is folded at the top, go easy over zip and sew all the way down.

Trim your zip on each side. I also use the I also use my pinking shears to add some fun!

You can make those out of laminated fabric or oil cloth, really quick and easy!
No need for lining, no raw edges and they seat well on the table for little fingers to see the colour pencils inside :)
-I never used oil cloth our laminated before but it was really easy.
-I realised (as Ms Tiff also pointed out to me)I could iron out the little fold (on the wrong side on very low setting).
-I also did not like the look of the first one I made, where the hem were made sewing fabric right side together and turn the project...do you know what I mean do you :)?!

Nourish...Meal planning

Hello,

With school being back it also brings the routine of planning for meals...

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore cooking but somehow the daily task can bring a challenge at time...

Keeping a balance diet,

children friendly,

nutritious

and

keeping the inspiration going :)

Simple mash potato with a dollop of creme fraiche

Last night after a first day at school ,

I made a very traditional approach to our dinner but also wanted to make it a little special...

Greens with a little dash of colours...

BBQ sausages (organic version) with thyme infused caramelised onions

The simple meal was elected one of the best dinner by the girls :)

The job that took everyone's breath for a moment...would the caramel crust form on top?:)

Hooray!

Vanilla bean Creme brûlée for dessert :)

And mum was awarded the best mum in the whole world for a fraction of a second :)

Now sharing my plan for the rest of this week...

*Minestrone soup

*GF pumpkin tart and salad

*Australia day marinated lamb BBQ and more!

* seafood risotto

Over the weekend I made a critical mistake too...

lesson learned:

Do not waste hours baking macaroons when it is so humid and raining...

They will eventually go soggy once in the fridge!

shame we should have eaten straight away!!!!

Any tips on cleaning old tea pot?

Yipee !!

May I introduce you to my latest thrift find...

I have been on a hunt for such a little tea pot for quite some times now.

Thanks to a visit to a lovely friend town, I finally got my hands on one!

The only issue is that I am really struggling to clean the inside of the little "beak".

I have used bicarbonate of soda , white vinegar and boiling water (I have even tried to get a cotton bud in there!) but I don't seem to be able to clean that hard to reach part very well...Should I bleach it?

Have any of you clever ladies got any tip to share?

**Edited (next Morning): A big Thankyou to Cam from Curlypops for her great suggestion to try with dishwasher powder!

It worked MAGIC!

I placed some powder in the little beak, poured boiling water over, let it soaked all night

and

in the morning after few rinse the result was amazingly clean.

SO now I hope I rinsed it enough :)

Getting ready for a new big day!

Just in case you are wondering...it is time for school on Monday :)

So this week I decided to face my fear of oil cloth and made the girls some pencil cases...

After few trial, I am now happy with the Easy speedy pencil case (I will show you what I found worked the best ...easy!)

and

I just learned that oil cloth was just fine...not sure what I was worried about??

The girls decided to perfect their baking skills with a "just by themselves" little cake while mum had her hands occupied...

Shame I could not have any, I just have caramel cravings now!!

Another project got done following the circle zip ear bud pouch tutorial from here.

Apart from completely forgetting to add the "tag thing"...it will be very handy for Miss E.

The book covering job got done too but...

I honestly do not do very well with anything too sticky!!:)

So I used some craft paper that I had and we decorated happily!

Over the weekend I also experimented with passion fruit and lime in my cooking.... mmmmm!

Tomorrow life goes back to lunch boxes, running against the clock

and

new activities (courtesy of mum's taxi)

We are all waiting to know the new class, new teacher, new friends...

My memories of school days are a little different than what the girls are living here

but I can always remember the excitement of "la entrée"!

A Macaron Coin Purse!
I can not imagine many coins fitting into those but what a special little case for a little jewellery present, or a tooth fairy pouch!

I am getting some sewing done for school start at the moment...but had to share those!
Way toooo cute don't you think!?

A new holiday adventure and Gluten free cupcakes recipe

Gluten free Cupcakes coconuts and white chocolate yumm!

Hello,
On Monday we had a special day with some friends, where sharing and discovering was on the agenda!

A little while ago, thanks to the blogging world, I met Catherine from A time to create...
Since then we discovered that we had quite a few in common and were lucky enough to meet in "real life"...

So this week, we had plan a little visit and picnic in the park with our girls before school starts again.

Time to try some new kitchen gadgets and bake some cupcakes...

My new kitchen "pen" came on handy for a no mess and accurate cup filling!

We had a great time, picnic in the park and enjoyed a little animal visit afterwards...

I can assure you that Molly the little baby cow won every one's heart!

These little one got some attention too :)

But time to share that recipe with you...

This was the first time I used the Whitewings gluten free self raising flour.
I adapted and simplified (for what I have available here) the recipe from this one.
Could easily be a dairy free recipe if you pass the cream cheese addition to topping.
The result was good and the cupcakes disappeared in no time :)

Cup cakes Ingredients:
* Preheat oven 180ºC (fan forced)

2 cups of GF self raising flour (from White wings (by Donna Hay) available in supermarkets)
1 tsp of baking soda
1/2 cup of raw sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp rice oil
1 cup of coconut milk

Mix sugar, egg with electric mixer until "whitish" paste.
Add oil, egg and coconut milk and keep beating.
Add Flour, baking soda and beat until fluffy & smooth texture.

Fill your cupcake tin (only half full)
Bake in oven for 20 min
Cool on wire rack.

Topping/Icing

5 tbsp margarine or butter (I use Nuttelex)
2 tbsp of cream cheese (optional)
1/2 cup of GF icing Sugar
1/2 cup of white chocolate (GF)
Shredded coconuts

leave margarine and cream cheese at room temperature to become soft
Melt au bain marie your white chocolate with one tbsp of margarine, let it cool.
Mix all cool ingredients and beat until light and fluffy.

Now Pipe your fluffy icing over the cakes and sprinkle with coconuts.

Enjoy!

🍰 I will be trying different cupcakes recipe over the coming month trialling different ingredients to see what works best, so if you are interested stay tuned!

We have just received our school supplies yesterday (also so glad I pre-ordered them in December!)...

Time to get ready for a new school year now!
The girls have started covering books and some ideas are swirling around my head.

I discovered this cute DIY project on the purl bee blog today...tempting! :)
I also loved the way Clare from the Mondocherry girls covered the children school book last year...hmmm
Not to mention some lunch box ideas...Any to share?

Bonjour and welcome back to our 2012 adventures!

Are you feeling like me the need to refresh, renew, look forward (and back) and make plans?

The holidays are coming to an end soon.
This little family break made us realised how much of a challenge it has been this year with moving place, home...Somehow, we needed to slow down to realise!

Our holiday season has been filled with family, smiles, rest, beach, sunshine and lots of baking cooking and sharing...

Yes we made lots of yummy things!

Success with GF waffles and thank you!

Taking a little moment to share that recipe today, as it turned out so delicious!

Yesterday, we had a special guest so we decided to make a special Breakfast...

I have not tried GF waffles for ages, but was very happy with the result!

Here is the recipe we used.

1 cup of plain GF flour (used Orgran brand)
1 cup of milk
1 tbs of bakind powder (GF)
1 tbs of caster sugar
1 egg
1 tbs of oil (rice oil here)
1/2 tsp salt

Mix all ingredients until smooth (I used the mixer for few minutes)...
Get hold of your waffle machine and follow its instructions on cooking time :) (ours have a green and red light)...
top it with what ever takes your fancy "et Bon appetit"!

Wrapping, making, fluffing...

It is wrapping time...

We obviously liked the Kikki K range of stickers and tape this year :)

Little one is fluffing up some pompoms for the table!

We used the tutorial from Martha Stewart.

Creative while on holidays

We are totally in "Ze baking mode" over here...

I just LOVE the latest Donna Hay mag,

it is happily sitting on my kitchen bench filling my heart and soul and hopefully my oven later on :)

Oh and did you see my roses!?*large grin*
I am just over the moon with that little plant of mine, it keeps giving us so many beautiful blooms...
Oh joy!!!!!
Let me tell you...if you find one Sir Donald Bradman rose in your local nursery, much worth planting!

Last night the girls got some excitement happening ...
OoooH Ohhhh
Unfortunately we got "the cement" wrong!!!
So just looks like a "Catastrophic event" went through the Kitchen
Bad builders! lol

Oh!we said bye bye to our little creatures (late but hopefully not tooo late!) they have gone to the Mirabel Foundation (as I missed the due date for Meet me at mikes (Silly me!))hoping to bright up little one Christmas.(The girls did the little blue one too )

Now I must get ready for some collective fun! :)

What is cooking in our home

Hello with the school holidays, a new chapter is taking place in our home...

While we are enjoying the change, it is almost like we need to find our new rhythm :)

Lots of cooking and baking at the moment...

Baking/Roasting some Beetroots this week...
peeling, cutting , some thyme, garlic, sage , a little sea salt and olive oil

All ready to be baked (about 180 degrees for 30 min)
Let it cool in your oven and once cool...
Store it in your fridge to add to salads or make some delicious dips...

Tomorrow there is an exciting event happening ...:)

Such a lovely country

Hello:)
I hope your week is starting in a nice manner...
Our Saturday was filled with beautiful landscapes...

Such a pretty country side, we made our way to the Tweed River Art Gallery through the so pretty "back way" ...

The drive was so scenic ...and the view from the Gallery amazing!

The Gallery market was really nice.
Being in a Gallery environment I did not feel comfortable taking pictures (sorry) but it was such a soul nourishing kind of place!
It was such a joy catching up with Ellie , having a little crush on her latest print ...
I was also particularly amazed by Helle Jorgensen work, such a talented artist!
I invite you to visit her lovely blog to see what I mean...
I am also now hoping to be able to attend one of her workshop in the new year :)

A big thank you again to Ellie for treating me with a lovely present :)...

Sunday was time to keep potting around home (do a little reading too) and preparing ourselves for the last week of school...

My creative "entertaining" place today...

Hello and thank you so much for all your kind words!

This week, I just had to "go with the flow" and even thought I had so many things on my "to do list",

I caught up a nasty bug that just would not let me do much at all!

Thanks goodness, today my energy picked up and I was able to prepare for the little morning tea ,I had planned, with some lovely ladies that help at the school with me...

Let's share what was on the table...

Choc and coconuts!

This is the secret...shhut!

I could not sample these, but they sure had the tip of approval :)

Caramelizing leek...

making little buckwheat tart with those caramelized leek :)

Some buckwheat,quinoa, hazelnuts and choc chip shortbreads (dairy free)...Delicious!

Some pretty flowers (mostly from the garden yay!)...

I am so grateful, I did not have to cancel and was able to eat (more than rice crackers and banana) again :)!

Oh...and on the weekend this is where I was up to.

Hello my friends,

Today things are reduced to rest and water for me (and a little blogging obviously!)...

While I still have zillion of things to finish, post, make, clean...My body is not playing the game today (nothing serious just a very annoying bug) !

The weekend was lovely for us, we managed to go to the Gallery of Modern Art Market (filled with lots of BrisStyle friends stalls) and had a nice and relaxing time in the city enjoying the lights, cafe and fav chocolate for the girls!

The beautiful aqua ceramic Jug (my companion of the day!) is a little treat to myself from Spun Mud...

who said I should wait for Xmas?!

So I am in trial and errors stage...
Inspired by few tutorials...
I have also made quite few purses last year for presents using Nicole Mallalieu pattern...
So with it all I should adapt knowledge to this frame?Eventually :)

Hello my lovelies :)

This week has been rather full of creative mischief ...the mum , the girls...finishing things, scratching head...
I have also hit the panic button ...

Some gift need to be sent overseas...So much need to Hurry!:)

Please meet our latest little bear/rat creature to join the Softies for Mirabel parcel :)
I think I would like to call him Nestor, what do you think? :)

Little one decided, it was time for making some felty things...

She has also started writing to her school friends :)
We came up with some pretty cool envelope I think :)

The story goes ...
While mum is boiling eggs, just stand over with your envelope...(holding with tongs so you don't get the pain :))
When glue has melted, open envelope draw pattern (this part came from browsing clever blogs but I am not clever enough to remember where!) and reach for junk mail lots of it in the mail box! and voila some happy "Christmassy" little envelope she made :)

Boy present, scratching my head...
And... the light bulb moment strike :)

* Starting another little creature... It has been really hot here lately, so sitting outside in the evening breeze was just perfect!

*Oh...and collecting my little ceramic adventure...from being fired a little while ago.I am still not to sure what it should be yet, just my pretty mini square plate I guess! :)

*And ...Making Icy cold banana milk shake after school for some young ladies :)

We just had a super special weekend...

It was our "Xmas work party" on Moreton Island...

Not so far, but it really felt like Paradise!

A beautiful bay, filled with Coconut trees, crystal clear water and blue sky...

Loads of fun!

Awwww the morning walk...

So green!

We had to do lots of that!

Look what we found on the beach :)

We also "met" lots of gorgeous dolphins

What an experience that was !

We can't wait to be back to Tangalooma again:)

Writing set wallet DYI-Tutorial

Material:

2 fabric rectangles of 33 x 23 cm(13"x5.1") (for mine: linen for in and out fabric)
2 pieces of fusible interfacing in same dimension as above (I used medium interfacing)
4 fabric rectangles of 15x 10 cm (6"x4") to make pockets (mine are blue spotty)
2 rectangles of fusible interfacing in 15x 10 cm (6"x4")

1 piece 8x 9cm (3.2"x3.5") for closing strap (to be folded in 4)

Outside decoration fabric applique mine were two strips of fabric one (33x6.5 cm liberty) and one (8x10 cm spotty) and some lace 24 cm ( do whatever you like really or use some pre-made applique)

1 small ribbon piece about 15 cm
1 metal snap closure

""sewing machine, matching thread, iron and iron board, a piece of cardboard, a hammer""

First step:

**Prepare the closure strip...
Fold the strip in 4 and iron turn raw edges in and iron...sew over the edges (I did more decorative stitching).

place the snap button top part in desire position (mine was 1.5x 1.5 cm away from edge)

**Preparing interfacing and decorationn
Prepare the decoration strip with some fusible applique interfacing(eg: iron on fabric back , cool down , peel off place over desire position and iron in place)

I also decorate mine with zigzag stitches around the edges...
I also added the lace strip and secure in place with few stitches (at top and bottom)

Fuse the interfacing to the two large rectangles and two small rectangles of fabric with iron

*Before continuing
ON the outside fabric panel (the one decorated)...
place the snap bottom part on the outside fabric panel, (on the right side when looking down at the piece) mine was ... (see this post about the steps in details)

sew the closure strip onto the other side of the outside panel (on the left side when looking down at the piece) mine was...

Check that it closes well

Sew the closure strip onto outside pices (opposite side)

**Sew the pockets...
Sew one small rectangle (with interfacing) with another small rectangle (without interfacing) together.
Right side facing each other

leaving a gap to turn it out...

Turn out,iron and sew the gap (you can use invisible stitch or sew over the edge with machine, really close to edge)

On the (lining, inside fabric panel, second large rectangle)

fold into two equal parts and mark where you need to sew the pockets (center them on each width and place them about 3 cm above bottom)

Sew the pockets in place (sew just sides and bottom part bien sur :))
Sew the ribbon in the centre top position

**SEW it all together

Sew the two large rectangle of fabric together (right side facing, sandwich decoration, pockets and closure strap in the middle)
Leave a gap to turn it out, clip the corners

iron
close the gap (you can use invisible stitch or sew over the edge with machine really close to edge)

Voila (I hope I did not forget anything!) insert your pretty stationary and Enjoy!
This is only how I did mine, I hope it is clear enough and that you get creative with it!
Make sure you let me know if you have Qs and try :)

How to insert a snap button::Before the whole wallet tutorial

Bonjour :)

Today,as I am writing the"how to" about the making of the letter writing set wallet I thought I better show the snap button bits in details first, so it makes it easier later...

here we are ...

(Important! place a thick piece of cardboard underneath.)

First your button is made of 4 little parts that go into two couples :)

First couple :)

second lot :)

*Now... we deal with fist lot

positioned the cover button

turn and push in the middle so you get to see the teeth

use tool to help

place the matching part over the teeth

Positionned the little metal tool over the part and use hammer few times to push it together(the fabric will be sandwich in between metal parts).

*Now on the bottom part of your snap button...the other couple :)

same thing place the teeth under the fabric and push with tool to see them

With the top part do the same as other couple, place over (now I got confused the first time I did it...so make sure it is the right way up...I show you again

So place over, place tool over and hammer in place...

PS:I did find this part a little trickier as there is so button to fit inside the tool

Check that it all work fine :) and you are done!
Now this is only my way, you may have a better way? But if you do I would love to read it!

Now ready for the whole wallet thing :)?

Bonjour!

I am back today (finally) after spending the most fabulous week sharing...

laughter,

Shaking legs on The green Challenge in Currumbin

memories,

fun and unusual moments,

Making memories on Halloween using enticing Icing handmade sugar bats :)

lots of visits and walking,

Gold coast beaches

speaking lots of french,

late nights and early mornings (too old for that!).

More than 20 years ago, I went to boarding school in Montpellier (France) and met lots of amazing friends.

But in the incredible path of life, I was able to keep in contact with a great friend of mine and I was thrilled and so grateful when she (and her beautiful family) were able to come and drop by our little corner of the world last week!

So please excuse my silence here, but I had to breathe every second of that precious moment :)

Merci de tout coeur pour etre venu passer une super semaine avec nous!

Home made Stationery set for your little one...A Tutorial!

Today I will start sharing how I made my "easy peasy" matching little stationery set...

Material:
-1 A4 sheet of pretty paper (got mine here)
-1 A4 sheet of coloured board (here as well).
-1 set of coordinated envelopes in 114 x162 mm.
craft glue, scissors,needle and embroidery thread (matching colour), paper trimmer

Cut a rectangle in the A4 card of 14 cm by 21 cm.

Make your matching writing paper first...
*Take a little strip of pretty paper (mine was 4 cm) place on one side of your white A4 paper and just colour photocopy 10 sheets.
*Cut them in half with your trustee paper trimmer and your are done :)

Make your matching little notebook now...
*Cut a rectangle in the A4 card (board) of 14 cm by 21 cm.
*Cut a strip of 7cm in the pretty paper (on the short side of paper sheet).
*Glue that strip on to your card piece (trim excess paper on side if required) and fold to have your little notebook cover.
*Take the "half pieces of white paper (left) together and trim to have 20 x 14 cm paper rectangles.
*Fold them in half.
*Now mark a dot with a pencil at 4.6cm,7cm and 9.5 along the fold mark of white pages centre.
*Put the notebook cover you made earlier under the paper and punch hole with your needle (put some cardboard under).

*Thread your needle with a knot at the end of the thread.
*Sew via the centre hole (outside) to the hole (on its right) and come back outside via the middle hole and then same to the left hole and come back via middle (like a 8 shape)...Now you should be needle out in the centre hole inside the notebook.
Secure with tight a knot, going under the thread on one side (double knot if needed) and trim thread.

I hope it makes sense, I should have taken more pics of that perhaps? :)

I ended up making two as well...

But for the first one, I was wayyyy to impatient and forgot to sew the pocket before "assemblage"...

Before revealing a little more about my latest adventures...

You may want to see what I did put in my little packet for everyone to enjoy...

Yes I did them again :)

I added some Chili Cinnamon Chocolate flavour for a change :)

I also baked some pretty Viennese Fingers, recipe found on Cathie's beautiful blog.

I substituted the flour with some organic spelt flour and a little coconut flour...Worked a treat!

Perfect treats to enjoy some newly discovered Magazine that this lovely lady let me borrow so kindly!

I also visited the Craft and Quilt Fair!

No new fabric, non :)
I treated myself to the You sew Girl book...Can't wait to get starting on some projects!

And in another department, I decided to make some time for the Jane Davenport online Art course, yes drawing, painting, journal ling...Jane art is such a delight, plus she is only in Byron !
I have not draw or paint for so long that I wonder if I can still do it ....But I am hoping it will be like riding a bike :)
I thought these would be perfect activities (almost therapeutic) to explore with my girls as the holidays will be pointing at the horizon very soon.
So I did stock with some lovely Art supplies...

Now I need to make the time...So stay tuned :)

More Pink...

Voila, I am happy I could get my sewing and photos done today as well as the listing (bribery included to get someone to model at least one!)...Phew!

The idea came up as I wear my hair up most of the time and the normal caps would not fit well this way (yes I have lots of hair too :)), also I made few before our holidays for the girls to try and they worked great!

I was able to list in my Etsy shop those for adding some help to the Chicks in Pink fundraiser and Breast Cancer awareness month organised with Brisstyle...Find infos here.

Yes I made a couple so far...and I will donate 50% of sale amount to the Chicks in Pink, also I will post free in Australia.

I will make more...but now it is Friday :)

Cookies and tea...and "Photoberfest"!

Yesterday I was tempted by those cookies from the Canelle et Vanille blog and those pictures!!!

I adapted the recipe a little with what I had in the pantry...

I used coconut flour, quinoa flour and some plain GF orgran.
I also used half hazelnut and almond meal instead of just hazelnut...
Next time, I will reduce the sugar amount as they taste a little too sweet for me...

I also found those cute little cookie cutter that I saw chez Cathie when she had that special morning tea.

Re bonjour...
As promised some more photos of our little journey...

As we drove into Sydney and its surrounding suburbs, after a long drive (yes I know... I do not have a high tolerance when it comes to driving what "I call" long distance in this country :)) the perfume of the many flowers greeted us in...Such a divine sense of surprise!

And the City...

Loved the stone,the colours, the trees and flowers, the water, the crisp mix of past and present, the vibrancy , the feel...

Still totally under the charm...

Bonjour!

Yes we had a lovely, lovely time and I totally fell in love with all those beautiful places we discovered!

We took a drive down the NSW coast in order to reach Sydney for a couple of days and then back...
Initially, it was a trip of "necessity" with some paperwork to be done but in the end it turned out to be the most fabulous Family trip/holiday on record!

The colours & the weather were just glorious!

Finding new amazing places.
Watching the sun set.
Looking at things in a different angle.
Walking bear feet...

It was SOOOO good I am now struggling to come back to reality !:)
I Will show you more pics tomorrow...

What did I got up to this week

This week has seen me...

*outside enjoying the sun shine planting some new flowers and shrubs around the garden to satisfy my need for colours...

*watching tirelessly those little one flowering, wishing for some fruits to come...

*Experiencing great success with my yogurt making :)
I have finally managed to overcome the watery issue I had in the past...Thanks to some discussions and hints sharing from my friend Ellie!
SO you will ask... what did I changed?
Well, I used some "cardboard packed" long life milk instead of the fresh one in plastic bottles...and added few spoons of Coconuts powder (from the Natural Food Store)

....Hmmmmmm Delish!! Coconut yogurt :)

* Experiencing great great frustrations with my plan to come up with other hats /cap style for that little shop of mine :)

After days of boiling with frustrations working on the pattern, I managed one hat which I was happy with...

Still some work, before I feel totally happy with it but Phew great progress finally!!!!

Some craft with the girls it was...

I have been accumulating some small fabric scraps... never really find easy to put them in the bin!

So I was so pleased to see that bag of fabric scraps ignited the girls sense of creativity!

Lots of little head bands were made, the girls felt very proud of their creations and I could definitely see that little spark of satisfaction in their eyes!

A nice activity to remember during the upcoming school holidays or even birthday party I think!

How did you use your fabric scraps lately?

I am thinking card making perhaps next time...?

A special visit to West End

Bonjour :)
Last week has been the most unusual week...in a very pleasing way.

I was very lucky to be able to catch up with some dear friends!

And While I was in the city,I made a little visit to Nook...

That very nice little shop in West End filled with unique handmade and Eco friendly treasures.

Greeted by cute and cuddly little pedro (Michelle gorgeous cat I precise!)

I found a very hard to resist little basket, some Japanese fabric ink (that I am very excited to try!) and some cute washi tape...

I also got my first copy of Extracurricular for something new...

If you are in the West End (Brisbane) area, I highly recommend a visit to this little Nook...

PS:I am also happy to announce that my "blogger" issue are seeing a good dose of improvement :) The solution was to change my browser, so if you have some hard times with it too it might be worse trying a change too? :)

Come for a little walk in the rainforest...

Hello dear friends,

Last week has been a little on the challenging side (should I say...)
with children unwell
and
a general feeling 'flat'...
Those times happens and the trick was to let them pass...

Thankfully, Sunday was a much better day (and yes the father's day gift was received with great pleasure!)

We had a little escape that felt like a much needed deep breath of fresh air and rejuvenation!

So I will just try and share some of that fresh air today...

Now take a deep breath and close your eyes, I promise it works :)

There is something special about those places...

even nature takes some unpredictable twists...

To keep growing through the challenges...and reach for the sky, the light and some fresh air!

Creative mischief of the week

This week on the creative corner it has been an active week for the two young ladies :)

(and I don't count myself in that category anymore sigh!)

It was decided, that "daddy" would love to read about what special things they had to say, write,giggle, draw, collect, remember, share.So they just filled up up a memory book for him to treasure for the years to come and... remember how much " Daddy is loved" in this nest!:)

It was such a great time sitting down on the carpet, hiding from "daddy" (bien sur) and sharing the mischief :)

The girls can't wait for Sunday now...

On my only side, it has been a little focused on making caps for orders and refilling the shop front :)As soon as the orders are off I must work on hat project that I am excited about and hopefully the "Daddy" of our little nest will get its special one on Sunday ...

Life "petits luxes"

The weekend just flew!

Lots of driving and catching up with family and dear friends

for some special time...

It felt really 'wintery' and the rain came on...

Some lovely quiet time to finish that simple vest (the story behind and my previous version in a different medium) ...

Friday was time for practice & testing my oven...

I tried some Matcha (green tea) macarons with dark chocolate "ganache"...

I learned that the green does not resist the baking...

I realised how much I LOVE making those...

But I am happy!

I can still bake these little treats nicely (in my new oven)

for everyone's pleasure :)

My creative space...petits cadeaux

little parcel of home made goodies(plus the delightful little note card from here) for a special little girl.

This week I had few little projects I wanted to see completed.

They had to be sent off on time...

I made my first attempt at one of the Ravelry pattern that I had put on my to hook list :)

I decided to try the Shell stitch beanie.

I used the Baby cashmerino in the aqua colour 031 (purchased at Tangled yarn last week)

I must have "gone with the fairy" for a fraction of the moment...

I think I kept increasing the DC rows an extra time which resulted with a beanie looking more like a mini beret!

But I liked it and thought I will keep it this way:)

This meant that I increased the final rows of double crochet to allow some depth ...

So in the end, it diverted frankly from the original pattern but still quite cute! :)

I hope it will fit, as I could only try it on the girls doll to check :) lol

I also decided to whip up a little daisy looking flower...which I found the pattern in that lovely lovely book called 100 flowers to knit & to crochet.

Voila!

I am now itching to try again!Luckily there is a little list of new born baby girl at the moment so...:)

Another to "post on time project", this week was the due date for sending my vintage fabric lot for the swap with kellie from green tea and red nails blog!So as you can see lots of yellows in my stash...looking forward to my little surprise parcel now!

Back from our little "gateaway", finally caught up on housework and things :)

A while ago, we realised that as a family we just did not get organized enough to plan some fun "gateaways" every so often, so an opportunity came up on spreets for some discounted tickets and after reading some good recommendation about the site, off I jumped at the offer!

That was a lovely refreshing little cruise to Stradbroke Island...

Not that far :) but very refreshing and so much excitement in the house!

There was an impatient wait...

After a nice cruise and seeing lots of boats, we reached destination...

My creative space and divine yarns!

Hello :)

This week I treated myself to a visit to Tangled Yarn with a lovely yarn lover Friend.

What a beautiful shop!

I wish I had the absolute bottomless budget :) but so grateful that I could treat myself to this 3 divine wool balls.

I have "bien sur" few projects on my mind and really wanted the softest wool ...

I could not resist the Malabrigo softness and shade, and some Debbie Bliss goodness in soft pale blues...

So here is me floating in heaven dreaming of some possible woolly gorgeousness...:)

And slowly getting some soft projects taking shape :)...

Another creative booster, is that I have also come across a decision :to make or not to make for my Etsy shop...

As a matter (of possible) coincidence several people have been asking for more of my caps (loving their first one and wanting more!)...and to be honest since we moved into our new home, I needed to just take that break and was wondering what would be the decision to take with my Etsy shop...It seems like my hands refuse to soak any longer in soapy water so felting would only become a personal making thingy...

It seems like perhaps, I am meant to follow that path ...?

Hard decision...but after listening to my heart, I have looked for my patterns and can feel some excitement back.Tweaking those patterns of mine a little further and making plan for new fabrics, new designs...and most of all accepting some orders and getting back into making some more caps ...

Now that the decision is made, I feel really happy and excited about the whole thing again...So I just have to manage some time for "me crafting" and "making for the little shop"...

So Sorry if you were looking for some felty goodness from me...looks like my hands are really struggling with the constant water bath...?

Do you find sometimes decisions are very hard to make and you almost wait for someone to say something to take that little step towards a decision ?

I would love to hear your feedback today...

Adding some old treasures (from my vintage hunt days) to my collection of pretty plates and cups...

I have a little emerging idea with what I would like to do with some but not so sure yet...will see!


I ended up letting that pattern taking me where it wanted...


New cushion addition of the week :)

After that,I wanted to combine my crochet piece

to some grey linen ...

I crocheted this little flower afterwards(from same book) and included it in the center.

This was my first flower attempt and many mistakes had to be patched up, but I am okay with it in the end :)

A little while ago,we did some clothes hanging in the little one bedroom.

They are a never ending source of fun and prettiness in her bedroom :)

I must admit, much more fun than my clothes bucket :)

We found this pretty Mae wall recalls in Brisbane (m)art gallery shop in Southbank.

I hope you had some time for some creative moments in your place too?!
